TORRES BAND POSTER
This assignment was to make two correlating band posters starting with found imagery. I started by taking photos of things around my house and neighborhood. Once we got our artist, we were to choose photos that fit the mood and genre of the music. I chose the silk flower and stained glass because of the feminine quality to Torres, but I felt as though it was too feminine. I started to distress the flower image in illustrator and began to feel frustrated with the animated feel.

I printed out the photo and began to add india ink and paint until I created the mixed background illustrated to the right. As soon as I created this texture, I began work on the second image. I started to distort the image until I captured the texture of this old church window rather than the femininity of the stained glass.
I finished this project by exploring type options. I wound up collaging the type onto both posters to keep the distressed feel.
This poster was chosen to be in the 17th Annual UWO Honors Exhibition and won Best in Design.
